How to Make Snow (Inside)

In full disclosure, this experiment doesn’t have a lesson at the end. This can just be a fun, weather-related activity that hopefully leads to more discussions about snow and winter weather.

What you need:

4 cups frozen baking soda

1-2 cups cold water

Large bowl

What you do:

First, you need to freeze the baking soda.  Mine was in the freezer for two days and could have probably used more time in the freezer, so plan ahead.

When you’re ready to do the experiment, cover your work space with newspaper/paper towels/towels and put your frozen baking soda into a large bowl.

Slowly add the water until you achieve your desired consistency.  Add the water slowly.  Slowly.

PLAY!  You can make snowballs, snow men, Elsa’s snow castle (if you’re really ambitious). Click here to see what this looks like.

If you try this out, share a picture with me on social media of what you create!
